Afraa Kamir Talibi is an Algerian Poet and journalist. She holds a diploma in journalism and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. She has published a poetry collection titled Who has Wounded the Rose? (2011) and a collection of haiku titled There are No Traces on the Sand for Me to Go Back (2016). Her poems have been published in numerous print and electronic newspapers and literary magazines. She has also participated in both local and national poetry readings and forums.

I
Plastic hothouses
even you strawberries
grow up in a cage!

The wave that dropped me
I’ll wait for its coming
to kick it with my shoe!

So pure
are the laughs of those who cross
the muddy road

In the pool
my laugh always preceded by
a laugh

Drowned in the sludge
i raise my head high
that the smile may not be stained
