THE LEGEND
Founded in 2014, Life and Legends began its journey with the mission to build bridges between languages and cultures, and long served as a platform committed to cross-cultural dialogue and literary exchange. Formerly a part of the Silent River Film and Literary Society (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization), the magazine now enters a new chapter in 2025—following the dissolution of its parent organization’s nonprofit status and a two-year hiatus—as an independent literary platform.
Since 2014, Life and Legends has featured the work of 759 poets, writers, and translators—including nominees for the Nobel Prize in Literature, recipients of the Pulitzer Prize, Poets Laureate of the United States, and other distinguished literary figures—alongside new and emerging voices from 148 countries.
Relaunched with a renewed editorial focus, Life and Legends now concentrates on publishing book reviews, interviews, and features that spotlight the work of contemporary poets, writers, and translators. It will continue to publish poetry and poetry translations on a rolling basis—however, drawn exclusively from previously published collections and translated volumes, with appropriate attribution to both author/translator and the publishing entity.
Its mission remains rooted in publishing both new and established writers, advancing literary excellence, and amplifying unique voices from across the globe to build enduring bridges for readers and writers to connect, experience diverse literary traditions, and foster cross-cultural dialogue through shared literary experience.
As part of this vision, Life and Legends is committed to cultivating a literary community that collaborates and supports one another. We welcome writers, poets, reviewers, translators, and editors who share this spirit to join our team.
If you’re interested in becoming part of our editorial team or contributing in any way, please email us at lifenlegends(at)gmail(dot)com with your professional bio and areas of interest.

We used this image, bearing Rumi’s timeless words, to mark the birth of Life and Legends in 2014—an emblem of quiet beginnings, enduring vision, and stories to be told.

In 2025, we resume our journey—to share the legends in the making. Come, yet again, come.
