Subhalaxmi Lamsal is a young poet from Nepal, who has done M.A in Nepali literature from Tribhuvan University. She has published her first book of poetry titled ‘Prakampit Ujyalo’ and was awarded ‘The Best Young Poet of the Year 2009 by Vani Prakashan, a leading literary organizations in Nepal.
BIO
Suman Pokhrel is a poet, writer, and translator. He was awarded the SAARC Literary Award in 2013 and 2015, and his work has appeared in notable journals worldwide. Suman Pokhral is also a lyricist, playwright, and artist. His poems have been translated into Arabic, Bengali, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Maithili, Odia, Persian, Sanskrit, Spanish and Urdu. His poetry is included in the syllabus of Language and Literature Study at Tribhuvan University and Purwanchal University in Nepal.
Encountering Images
I gather scattered images, rising on the horizon.
My mind holds the brush of my eyesight
and paints the canvas of my heart.
A morning spreading luster by rupturing dark clouds.
A pair of lovebirds romance.
A mariner in the sea, sailing toward his destination.
A rainbow connecting the earth and the sky, with all the colors of life.
A herd of cattle returning home at sundown.
Birds enjoying while children play.
And a peacock dancing, with its wings, spread in pure ecstasy.
I would like to make these pictures a reality,
painting them in solitude,
sitting in my courtyard.
चित्रसँग ठोक्किँदा
क्षितिजमा यत्रतत्र छरिएका दृश्यहरु
मनको आँखाको कूचीले
हृदयको क्यानभासमा बटुलेर हेरे
एउटा सम्पूर्ण चित्र बन्यो।
कालो बादललाई चिर्दै आभा फ्याँकिरहेको उषा,
एक जोडी चखेवा प्रेमालापको क्षण,
बीच सागरमा गन्तव्यतिर नौका खियाइरहोको माझी,
सृष्टिका सम्पूर्ण रंग समेटेर
पृथ्वी र आकाशलाई जोड्दै गरेको इन्द्रेणी,
गोधुलीमा गोठतिर फर्कदै गरेका बस्तु बथान,
केटाकेटीको खेल हेरेर रमाइरहेका चराहरु,
आनन्दको पराकाष्टामा सम्पूर्ण प्वाख फिजाएर
नाचिरहेको मूजुर।
क्षितिजमा कोरिएका यी चित्रलाई
यथार्थमा रुपान्तरित गरूँ गरूँ लाग्यो
शान्तसँग आफ्नै आँगनीमा कोरूँ लाग्यो।
