Poetry: Ashok Bhargava

HALF A FACE

Sky is dark.
Beneath a green cedar tree,
it is quiet on the bench where we sit,
thinking darkness is just another
shade of light.

Inhaling deep,
you clear your throat,
stand up,
and begin to sing
in a broken voice,
telling stories of unfulfilled dreams.

Sometimes you ripple with pain
but regain composure soon,
to shine like a half moon,
thin like a sheet of paper
sliced directly down the center
with a razor-sharp precision.

.

NON-CENTER

Without any center
my true self peels off
in layers of
memories, dreams, desires,
some experienced
others unfulfilled.

I remember not
being myself
my thoughts
and promises.

I will be myself
the day I catch winds
with my own fingers,
become the fire,
dissolve my core and
crystallize it
into a perfect glass.
