I Did Not Listen

I Did Not Listen

I heard a whimper
turned around
saw nothing but a forest,
continued down my path
the same ole
same ole path
I heard a terrifying cry
turned around
saw nothing but a tree
I continued down my path
the same ole
same ole path
I heard unearthly weeping
turned around
and I heard nothing
but saw silence
and I .. I had nowhere to go.

Seeking Dawn

Seeking Dawn

The north wind swirled spat
and snarled, framing me for months
numb I held onto the edge losing
self and faith in my religion.

Oh wild one you know not the cruelty
of humankind, truly there is no sense
of direction of late and with no direction
I cannot find the dawn.

I listen to children cry but can not hear
I know I am to pray but to whom?
I am overwhelmed.
Hush little baby don’t you cry…

I seek shelter in the folds of your garments
soothed by a lullaby that swithers in tall prairie
grass, I hold and console phantom children
ssh ssh I say maybe they won’t find us here.

All it was..

All it Was…Was

Attentive to the aerial ballet
taking place
I realized they did so without
the need of justification
or even a misguided ramification,
a crucial yet often intelligibly
aspect of being present.
Flight ~ the ability to fly,
I do believe I am envious
of many things, but with this
comes the awareness of time
time to let go of spurious
baggage that holds me down.
Why did I think I had to make
it more than it truly was
that of two birds flying.
