Life and Legends Relaunches with Renewed Editorial Vision and Open Call for Submissions

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Greater Los Angeles: California: June 30, 2025: Life and Legends, an internationally recognized literary magazine founded in 2014 as part of the Silent River Film and Literary Society—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—now enters a new chapter following the dissolution of its parent organization’s nonprofit status, as an independent platform, under the editorial direction of its founder and Editor-in-Chief Kalpna Singh-Chitnis.

Life and Legends, established to build bridges between languages and cultures through literary exchange and cross-cultural dialogue, has since its inception published the work of 759 poets, writers, and translators—including Nobel Prize nominees, Pulitzer Prize recipients, Poets Laureate of the United States, and other notable literary voices—alongside emerging talents from 148 countries.

Now, with a renewed editorial focus, Life and Legends will spotlight book reviews, interviews, and literary features that engage with the work of contemporary poets, writers, and translators. Poetry and poetry translations will continue to be published on a rolling basis, selected exclusively from previously published collections and translated volumes, with proper attribution to both the author/translator and the original publishing entity.

As part of this relaunch, the magazine is pleased to announce the addition of two new Contributing Editors to its editorial team:

Candice Louisa Daquin, poet, editor, and psychotherapist, and Tulasi Acharya, writer, educator, and literary scholar. Their diverse backgrounds and literary expertise will further enrich the magazine’s global perspective and editorial excellence.

The call for submissions is now officially open on Duotrope. Writers, poets, reviewers, and translators are invited to explore our updated submission guidelines and contribute to this exciting new phase of Life and Legends.
