.As if…

longing had not a face
and the skies of heaven
have not faded
black against night,
nor the sea burnt
ocean to obsidian,
a shattered drumbeat
sorrow to lyric

As if…
in my darkest moments
there is ever a hope of light
without you;
the ocean of my empty,
a brush, skin to skin,
the soft comfort
of voice and silences
measured only in wind and echo

As if…
I have never spoken,
nor my hands
ever painted a canvas
brushed to sunsets,
nor watched the ocean
withdrawal seaward

As if…
I had not ears to hear
a lyrical rainbow of tears,
falling lips to quill,
nor wrote them
watching them burn
against eyes so broken-blue;

You…

As if…
love had any other voice.

Como si…

Como si…
el anhelo no tuviera cara
y los altos del cielo
no se han fundido
negro contra la noche,
ni que el mar quemó
el océano a la obsidiana,
la pena de los tambores
trastornados a la letra.

Como si…
en mis momentos más oscuros
alguna vez hay esperanza de luz
sin ti;
el mar de mi vacío,
un cepillo, piel a piel,
el consuelo suave
de voz y de los silencios
medidos solo en viento y eco.

Como si…
nunca he hablado,
ni que mis manos
han pintado una lona
de puestas de sol por pincel,
ni mirado el retiro del océano
hacia el mar.

Como si…
No tuviera oídos para oír
un arco iris lírico de lágrimas,
labios cayendo a pluma,
ni lo escribí
viéndolos quemar
contra ojos tan quebrados azul.

Tu…

Como si…
El amor tuviera cualquier otra voz.

Firefly Eternal

Between the whiskey and wander
of ancient men,
where night rises spirit to sun
and jasper to bone,

The nomadic moon bares witness
these naked souls
daring to dream of dandelions
and the fire-shined flutter
of winged things,

The father and mother of stars
have left to us these gifts,
an elemental canvas painted
the shades of our dreaming;
a desert saturation
of colors older than sun

…you are remembered through red,
and forgotten in blue…

and our words are contained here
among the desert and dust angels;
a distance that fades howl to horizon,
a Mojave madness of firefly-eternal…

.Luciérnaga Eternal

Entre el whisky y el recorrido
de hombres antiguos
en dónde la noche levanta el espíritu hacia el sol
y el jaspe a hueso,

La luna nómada atestigua
estas almas desnudas e
atrevidas soñando en dientesdeleón
y en el lustredefuego aleteo
de cosas aladas,

El padre y la madre de las estrellas
nos han dejado estos regalos,
una lona elemental pintó
el tono de nuestros sueños;
la saturación del desierto
de colores más viejo que’l sol

… se recordarán de ti a través de rojo,
y se olvidarán en azul…

Y nuestras palabras se contienen aquí
entre el desierto y el polvo de ángeles,
una distancia que desvanece aullido a horizonte,

la locura del Mojave de luciérnaga-eternal…
